Confessions of a retired middleman

I was very happy to land my first contract at a recruitment company. With all their LinkedIn communication and the way they sold the dream, I really thought it was the opportunity of a lifetime. But from the first days, I realized it was just a scam. A scam against the Belgian economy, with invoices abroad, and there are hundreds of companies with the same model, and especially a scam against freelancers. They take huge commissions, sometimes up to 65%, on the backs of people already in precarious situations. The turning point for me was during internal training. They explained how to call candidates only to get their clients' contact details, in order to then offer replacements at half price.
